2. Moroccan wedding ensemble sleeve
Object: sleeve with embroidery and metallic trim, part of a nine part Moroccan wedding ensemble, private collection
Date: late nineteenth century
Dimensions: 42" sleeve opening, 32" long, 6.5" arm opening
Materials: silk tulle with silk embroidery and metallic ribbon trim
Treatment goal: to stabilize sleeve so existing holes will not become larger when stored or occasionally worn
Treatment: Sewing Crepeline™, slightly stiff silk mesh, patches to stabilize holes in tulle sleeves with fine clear thread, to prevent holes from becoming larger. Sleeves were vacuumed but not wet cleaned.
